Break en Prison: a prison break escape room in English, in Perpignan
One hour. That’s all the time you have left to break out.
After a string of robberies around Perpignan and years on the run, your gang has finally been caught and locked up in temporary cells. In one hour, the guards will come to transfer you to a high-security prison. Until then, you have only one thing on your mind: escape.
Will you make it out in time?
Break en Prison is our big-group room, truly playable with 2 or with 8. It is also the only Escapix room that can be played in English (or Spanish), on prior request: all the game materials, instructions and hints have been translated.
Playing in English: how it works
- Ask for the English version when you book. Our booking system is in French: just write “English” in the booking notes. You can also ask beforehand by email at contact@escapix.fr or by text message (SMS) at +33 7 68 99 22 97. This lets your game master set up the translated materials in the room before you arrive.
- What is translated. In Break en Prison, all the game materials, inmate files, instructions and hints have been fully translated into English (and Spanish). Your game master speaks French, and guides you with these written and visual materials, so language is not a barrier.
- Our other rooms are played in French. In Un Train d’Enfer, Panique à la Fabrique and Goodbye Cobayes, your game master can give you hints in English if needed, but the game itself stays in French.
- In short: if some of your group don’t speak French, choose Break en Prison and mention it when booking.
How the game works
Plan on about 1.5 hours on site.
- Arrival. Be exactly on time: not early (we can’t welcome teams ahead of time, but the Halles Vauban food market next door is a great place to wait), and not late. The clock starts 15 minutes after your booked time, at the end of the briefing, even if your team is late. Under our terms and conditions, after 15 minutes of delay the session may be cancelled without refund.
- Briefing (15 minutes). Your game master welcomes you, explains the rules (in French, with translated written instructions) and sets the scene. We won’t say more: it’s part of the surprise.
- The game (60 minutes). Search, observe and think together. Your game master follows your progress and sends you hints on the screen in the room, in English. Your session is 100% private: you only play with your own group. And you are never really locked in: a green emergency button in the room unlocks the doors immediately.
- Debriefing (15 minutes). Back to your escape, with a free team photo if you agreed to it when booking (costumes and props provided). Drinks are offered at the end of the game, and lockers are available for your belongings.
Who is it for?
- 2 to 8 players, and 9 or 10 on request (less comfort and lower intensity).
- Beginners and very experienced players alike: the difficulty adapts to your team.
- Families: from age 6 with at least one adult in the room (players need to be able to read). Younger children are welcome too: just tell us in advance. One child aged 0 to 5 plays free per paying adult (maximum 3 per booking, minimum 2 paying players). Groups of children only: under 10, an adult stays with them, in the room or on our premises; from age 10, a responsible adult must stay reachable nearby.
- Groups of friends, stag and hen parties, colleagues: up to 25 people can play at the same time across our 5 rooms (including on-request places).
- Holidaymakers: campsites, holiday camps and youth centres are welcome at the standard price.
Scare mode (optional)
In normal mode, Break en Prison is not scary: the atmosphere is cold, as a prison should be, but nothing more.
Want some thrills? Select scare mode when booking online. It is free of charge. Same puzzles, but a costumed game master enters the room several times, with surprise effects. No physical contact, ever. If you didn’t select it, your game master will ask at the briefing and switch it on if the whole team agrees. At any time, just ask your game master to go back to normal mode.
Scare mode is not recommended for children under 14 or for very anxious or sensitive people.
Please tell us before playing. The game may include sound and light effects, surprises and dim lighting. If you have photosensitive epilepsy, claustrophobia or a heart condition, use a sensitive medical device, or are pregnant, let us know when booking or on arrival.
